Water Resources Engineering

Water, an essential element for human existence, often requires engineered solutions to ensure its availability. Throughout history, the engineering of water has played a crucial role in sustaining civilizations, particularly those reliant on water resources. Water structures have served communities for thousands of years, witnessed in ancient civilizations such as Babylonia, Egypt, India, Persia, and the Far East. In the 21st century, water has gained prominence as a global resource, often referred to as “the next oil.”

Mission

The department program combines hydraulics, fluid mechanics, hydrology, and water resources, with elements from environmental engineering, meteorology, remote sensing and systems analysis, and related disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, computer science engineering, and geology.

Vision

Water Resources Engineering program aspires to be a center of excellence in the field of Water Resources in Kurdistan and competitive in the world. The graduate program in Water Resources Engineering at Leaders MindUniversity prepares students for careers in hydraulics, hydrology, and water resources, by providing a strong theoretical and applied foundation, and a broad-based academic background, necessary for positions in engineering design, research, and academia.

Water Resources Engineering Department was established

The department awards B.Sc. in the field of dams and water resources engineering after four academic years.

The updated and new department name Water Resources Engineering Department studying plan consists of theoretical subjects as well as practical subjects by using scientific laboratories and computer applications.

After completion of the third year, the students take practical training in the field of water resources projects. The students at the fourth year carry out a project in the field of water resources engineering in partial fulfillment of their regular course-work. The Department accepts about 55 students per a year.

In the Water Resources Engineering department, we offer two levels of academic studies. The undergraduate program spans four academic years, culminating in a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Water Resources Engineering. For those seeking an advanced education, our postgraduate program leads to a Master of Science (MSc.) degree in Water Resources Engineering, requiring two years of academic study.

Our curriculum combines theoretical and practical courses, integrating the use of laboratories, computer applications, and modern engineering tools essential for real-world engineering practice. Through a comprehensive learning experience, students gain a strong foundation in the principles and applications of water resources engineering.
